Our New Addition
Hubby and I welcomed a new addition to our family on Dec 30th 2012. Although she wasn't expected to make her appearance until early January, she was on her own schedule.
My water broke at 7am, which was follwed by a phone call to our midwive. Having a foley with our son, I was a bit unfamiliar of the procedure when a labour starts naturally.
We met up with our midwive at the office for an examination around 9:30am. Needless to say, the examination never took place. The contractions started hard and fast, some weren't even a minute apart. About 10am, after trying to get on the table to be checked a few times unsuccessfully, we decided that the contractions were coming too hard and too fast, and we needed to head out to the hospital.
Driving faster than I would have liked, even though it was by my direction, we made it to the hospital with just enough time to spare.
We got up to the room, in the bed, and about 35 minutes later, our little girl Lauren was born.
She came so fast, our second midwife didn't make the birth. 4.5 hours from water breaking to birth isn't bad in my books!
It was a new, exciting, and to some degree liberating experience to do it on my own; to have the support of my husband there, more involved then he was able to be the first time, and the direction and support of my midwife.
It was just the three of us in the room, no distractions, orders, chaos and confusion, it was great. I was able to have her on my chest right away, hubby was able to cut the cord, I was able to see the placenta, and was shown everything I didn't see with our son.
I've had this in my head, and although it may be jibberish at times, I felt the need to write it down for no one or someone to read :)

The Art of Play!
I have been experiencing some anxiety over how to engage my 19 month old son with different sensory and play activities now that I am on maternity leave again.
After a visit with a friend of mine, we came up with this fantastic idea! J loves to paint, but with a home that has mostly carpet, I dont feel comfortable with him playing with paints. The solution: an empty bathtub, an egg carton filled with watered down paints, a paintbrush and a happy boy in his diaper!
The best part? Turn on the tap, wash it down and it turns right into bath time!! :)
This is a fantastic idea for those moms who aren't comfortable with paints out in the house but still want their children to experience the joys of stress free painting!

Ingenius Solution for Kids Tripping on their Pants!
I came across this product at a Mom to Mom Sale recently and was STUNNED by the ingenius creation!
This is one of those products that you knock yourself on the head and go " Ya, I wish I had those when my kids were younger!"
For any parent that has a child that trips on their pant legs, or cringe when it's raining outside and their pants are getting wet (and let's be honest, I cringe when it's raining outside and MY pants are getting wet) this is an amazing solution!
These were a steal at $8.00 a set.
All you do is press to snap the mechanism open, put on the outer pant leg and press to snap shut! She put extra padding between the material, made them a bit longer to ensure a great hold, and there are so many cute designs!
She was sold out of the plain black and dark wash denim by the time I got to her table, as all the other moms were buying those colours/fabric for themselves!
I can't wait to see what other patterns she comes up with!
Kudos to James Bailey Designs for this adorable and useful little accessory!

Disorganization!
With all this creativity snapping back and forth in my mind, I have all these projects started, and with a busy week this week, me house looks like a bomb of fabric went off!!!!
Finally, hubby and I decided that we need a bigger place. So, off goes the little guy for the next couple Saturday afternoons to his grandma's and we are off to look at new places.
Obviously I need room to allow my creativity to take flight, and more storage space....wow...storage space, how I miss thee!!!
Does anyone have any creative organization ideas for small spaces?
Please do share!!!

Creativity in Abundance!
Oh how the whisps of creativity have been flowing around my head lately. Every time I look at something, I come up with an idea on how better to use it, to create something new with it, or that I just just recycle it and declutter my life.
I have so many projects on the go that it astounds me! How did I go from sitting on the couch being bored at night, to barely having time to stop and smell the snow covered roses?
I am very happy that I have been able to outsource my crocheting and sewing for the moment! I hope that those projects turn out very well! Sometimes you just have to bite that preverbial bullet and realize that it would be easier and more efficient to pay someone else to do it!
Don't fret world, I still have many projects that I am going to be able to complete myself and FINISH! Now if I can just find a way to arrange it properly around my house!
Oh....how I love Walmart! Tonight was one of those nights I was able to find everything I was looking for! I was all too excited to come home and put together my designer bankers boxes to organize all my household paperwork. I have to admit it was almost orgasmic to see how organized and pretty it all looked! Hubby just shook his head and laughed....
Now.....off to cut fabric!
Details and pictures of current projects to come soon!

Day #1 - The Start of My Blog
So, my introduction to the blogging world....my first blog and my first post.
I was inspired to start this blog for a number of reasons. I am a first time mother, to a wonderful little boy, born on Fathers Day 2011. I am also looking to enrich my life and become less dependent on the outside world and consumerism. I joined the Biggest Loser competition on my local moms group website and thought by blogging, it would force me to stay focused and determined. I have also taken up extreme saving and couponing, I will also be tracking my savings and DIY thoughts and ideas. My creativity has also been sparked lately and I will be including my ideas and crafts on here as well .
So here starts day #1.
